Flooding Averted – Thanks to Fosseway Hire and the Villagers
The old Dunkirk spirit lives on in Honington.
When a local villager was inches away from his cottage being flooded, a call for help on the local community WhatsApp group led to a number of villagers turning out with buckets and brooms to keep the water from entering the property.
With the water still rising the only hope was a pump, but as it was approaching 6:30 in the evening it was a case of where do we get one from?
Fortunately, an out of hours call to Paul at Fosseway Hire (disturbing his dinner) resulted in him going out of his way to go and unlock the hire centre and help load a 2 inch Centrifugal Pump in to a villager’s vehicle along with a good 30 metres of outlet hosing.
The pump was set up and within minutes the water round the property was gone, the villagers breathe a sigh of relief and even more so the cottage owner.
